5 1/3 Years...Changes and Trying New Things!

This has been quite a month of changes!  I finished up my last month at Walnut Street Day School. It was really sad leaving my friends.  We had a lot of fun things happening before I left though.  We went to the park to go fishing one day (although I wouldn't go close to the water because I was scared I was going to fall in the water) and went to the park to play another day.  That was a lot of fun and Mommy got to come and visit for a little bit.  I also got to go swimming with my class one last time on my last day.  And of course, I graduated from preschool!  That was a fun day!  I learned to sing the Fifty Nifty United States and even taught my Mommy the song!  My grandparents got to be there and we had ice cream back at our house afterward.
I had to get myself ready for kindergarten too.  Unfortunately, the doctor's office messed up and I had to go back 3 times for 4 different shots before they would let me go to summer school.  I screamed so loud the first time, and the second time, I hid from Daddy and ran away.  Finally, the third time I felt a little more brave.  Good thing I got ice cream after each trip!
Because I didn't have my shot record, I wasn't assigned to a summer school classroom until we went during open house.  I was put in Mrs. Blume's class and I was really excited!  I liked her a lot.  She had blonde hair and was left-handed, just like me!  Emma was in this class too.  On the first day, I got all settled and coloring and then found out they switched me to Mrs. Sicht's room.  I was really nervous, but Bella was in this class. I had a tummy ache and went to the nurse the first day, but after that, I have really loved it!
I had some boo-boos this month too.  My family was going to go for a walk, but I tripped right next door and scraped my knee.  The next day, I fell on the same knee at preschool!  I was also really tired one night when I went to the bathroom and fell asleep on the toilet.  I fell off and bit my tongue and bumped my chin on the bathtub!  I got sick my last week at preschool and threw up so I missed one of my last days there.
Other fun things that we did-we had a BBQ at Aunt Lisa's for Memorial Day, I spent the night at Nana Arden's house, I went to Lexi's birthday party at Bonkers, Stacey and Ryan, Jaxson and Harrison visited, and we went to Camille's birthday party.  I went to Mommy's Great-Aunt Minnie's auction and that was really cool.  I wondered how the guy was able to breathe because he talked so fast!  Then, we went to Aunt Mary and Uncle Duane's house for Father's Day.  I had a blast out there!  I rode on a four-wheeler, fed horses, and petted cows!  So much fun!
I can't wait to share all I am learning in kindergarten summer school next month!

5 1/4 Years...Looking like spring!

We did so many different things this month.  Easter was this month, and I had a lot of Easter egg hunts!  We did one at my preschool and Daddy, Mommy, and Emily got to come.  I found my eggs really fast!  Then we went to Washington and had more egg hunts at Nana Carol and Papa Ron's and at Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's.  It was so much fun seeing my cousins.  When we got back home, I got to hunt eggs at Nana Arden and Papa Rodney's house.  I was really upset after all of that because the Easter Bunny didn't come to my house!  Mommy and Daddy explained it was because he knew I wasn't home, but I was really sad about it for days!
Papa Rick and Nana Peggy came into town too this month.  It was a lot of fun seeing them.
I had my 5 year doctor appointment too, and I now weigh 44 pounds and am 45 3/4 inches!  Dr. Prica said I am a healthy growing girl.  I did have to get some shots, and I screamed so loud!  I also threw some major fits later that day about taking off the Band-Aids, even though I usually take off my own without any problems.  I know I have one more shot to get before summer school and I am already dreading it.
This month, I got to have a play date with Carrie, Auntie Heather came for a visit and played outside with me, and we had my cousin Jonathan's birthday party.  That week, we also went to a Cardinals' baseball game.  They lost though-bummer!  Daddy's school played at Busch Stadium right after.  We had a lot of fun while we were there.  We accidentally drove past the stadium and into Illinois, and when we came back into Missouri, I said, "We are not in Illinois anymore because I see the American flag!"  I have also been learning the states song and I don't quite know all of the names.  I asked Mommy if "Fleecy" was a state.  She said it was called "Louisiana".  I also thought Connecticut was pronounced "And then it cut".
I helped Mommy plant our garden too.  We planted sunflowers, carrots, green beans, peas, cucumbers, squash, cantaloupe, and watermelon.  I had so much fun helping!  We started on a project for my teachers and painted some flower pots and planted flowers in them.  I love helping and know that flowers grow because their roots need water.
I am doing so many grown-up things now too!  I found out I am going to go to Shepard for kindergarten and summer school!  I am so excited because I have a couple of friends that will be going there too!  I walked to Wal-Mart with my class this month too for a surprise for Mother's Day for Mommy.  We bought glass jars and made a candle with sprinkles in it.  I can now make my own peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  I like doing things myself.  I am signed up to do the Kids on Track this summer again and get to start logging my miles soon.
I have been coughing a lot this month and ended up throwing up in bed one night from all the drainage.  I hope this cold goes away soon.  That week, I just wasn't myself.  I was aggressive with other students.  I was fighting over a baby doll one day and pushed a girl and she ended up hitting her head on a table.  Two days later, I was arguing whether a plant was a weed or a flower and thought the girl was going to yell at me and I hit her.  Mommy and Daddy were very disappointed.  Thank goodness my behavior has been better this week!

5 Years, 2 Months...Growing up so much!

I have really been interested in learning this month!  I love to try to read words and know how letters sound.  I did an optional activity at school and copied two pages worth of words from flash cards.  Mommy and Daddy were so proud!
I have been talking about different things in the world like power lines and how things work.  I've also been asking more about God and Jesus.  I am more interested in dressing myself lately and like to wear a lot of different patterns.  I also bought the movie Frozen with my own birthday money.
I took several walks with my family this month and had several visitors.  Auntie Heather, Uncle Sean, Ashley, and Ian came and I loved playing with them!  I visited Miss Annie and Mr. Kenny because they are going to watch my sister at the end of this school year.  I love to see them!  I also visited the Easter Bunny with Emily.  I went to a program at the library called Ready, Set, Kindergarten.  I guess I have to get ready!
I have been testing Mommy and Daddy with my attitude and not listening the first time this month.  I even lied to Mommy about taking a vitamin that I actually threw in the trash.  We started a system where I earn a marble each time I follow directions without an attitude the first time they are given.  I have really loved this and like to work toward earning the marbles.  I also told Mommy that I wasn't mad at Emily, but that I was lonely and didn't have a lot of attention.  I said that things used to be fun, but they aren't anymore.  So, we went on a Mommy Daughter date to HyVee for donuts and Kohl's to buy new dresses and tennis shoes.  I liked having that time.
I've also been sick with a fever twice this month.  Good thing I got over it quickly!

5 Years, 1 Month...I'm a Big Sister!!!

It finally happened!  My baby sister was born on February 21st, 6 days after my 5th birthday!  I am so excited to have her here.  Daddy woke me up early that morning to tell me my sister was coming that day!  Nana Arden came over to take me to preschool, and then picked me up to bring me to the hospital to meet her.  I got to tell everyone that her name is Emily Kathleen.  I am so proud!
Mommy and Daddy keep telling me that I am such a good big sister.  I love to sing "Hush Little Baby" and "You Are My Sunshine" to Baby Emily.  When she is upset, I like to get a book and read to her.  I help Mommy and Daddy out too by getting whatever they need for her.  I've also been pretty responsible with other things too.  Our first weekend home together, I got up by myself, made my bed, got dressed, and set out breakfast.  I like to help with laundry and dishes too.  I am really good about playing by myself, especially coloring and drawing.  I need to show Baby Emily how to act!
Nana Arden picked me up from school a lot of days and I got to hang out at her house while Mommy and Daddy were busy.  That was a lot of fun.  I was at Nana Arden's house and was asked if I wanted to go on a walk with Emily.  I got really excited when I found out it was her first walk!  We got our family pictures taken by Marion and that was a lot of fun.  We will post them soon.
Grandma Kathy came up and stayed with us for a few days.  That was awesome!  I even got to go to McDonald's with her and Nana Arden.  I love to be the center of their attention!  Grandma Kathy took care of Emily while Mommy and Daddy took me to Pastries with Parents at preschool and kindergarten round-up.  That's right, I'm registered for kindergarten!  When we got there, a nice boy named Carter took me to see a kindergarten room while Mommy and Daddy filled out paperwork.  I sat down nicely and colored until they came to get me.  We took a tour of the school.  Mommy and Daddy said they are not sure where I will actually be going to kindergarten next year, and I am OK with that.  They also told me that Mommy will not be working next year and will stay home with Emily.  That didn't bother me either.  I think Mommy wanted me to go to school with her though.
It's hard when Mommy and Daddy can't play with me because they are busy.  One time, Mommy tried to play with me but kept falling asleep.  Later, she came in my room and said, "#1-I'm very proud of you, #2-I love you so much, #3-I'm really sorry I couldn't stay awake and play with you."  I replied, "#3-I forgive you!"  I also was setting the table (something I take great pride in) and forgot where the forks go.  Mommy always told me that the forks go on the side that I write with (left).  I went to get a crayon to help me figure out which side that was!
So many things are changing in my life lately, and I am handling it pretty well.  The only behaviors I am showing is that I have a hard time listening at times and tend to interrupt.  That's just because I want attention!  I also have about one crying meltdown a day about things that normally wouldn't bother me.  I think I just need to let my feelings out.  I know Mommy and Daddy love me no matter what.
