6 Years, 4 Months...Endings and beginnings, Go Cardinals!

Wow, what a month of endings and new beginnings!
Our soccer season ended abruptly because of all the rain.  We only played 5 1/2 out of our 8 games, and I never got to play against my cousin Corinne.  Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom and Nana Arden and Papa Rodney all came to one of my soccer games.  It was nice to have a cheering squad!
We had our last Girl Scouts meeting too.  Everything seems to be coming to an end! However, Bella, Brynn, and I are continuing our "soccer practices", although now we just call them play dates!  We love to put on "plays" and got to play in a small pool and the sprinklers once.
I went with Daddy to a track meet and got to hang out with him for the day.  It was a lot of fun!  I was cold, so one of the coaches let me wear his sweatshirt.  And of course, we got to go to McDonald's after! However, Mommy and Daddy took me to Orange Leaf one day, and it has quickly become my favorite place.  We also got take out from Panda Express.  My favorite was the teriyaki chicken. I also had a lot of fun at Lexi's roller skating birthday party.  It took me a little bit, but I got the hang of it!
We had fun at field day at school.  We did a lot of fun relays with water, like holding a cup of water over our head and trying to melt a huge ice cube.  I must have gotten a sunburn because my "sculp" (scalp) hurt after that for a couple of days! We also had an end of the year pizza party at school and Mommy and Emily got to come.  There was an end of the year kindergarten party at Shepard Park, but it mostly got rained out.  Mommy and Emily came and brought me Subway for me though.  It was nice to have them there.
We also found out that I will be going to Cedar Ridge with Mommy next year.  I cried when I found out because I will miss Shepard and all my friends and Mrs. Sicht, even though I am excited to be with Mommy at her new school.  On my last day at Shepard, I was "excited, but a little sad."  It was a fun day and we sat in a circle and shared what we wished for everyone.  I was the first to raise my hand and said I wished for everyone to have a good summer.  I was crying at the end of the day because I had to say good-bye to Mrs. Sicht and my friends.  Orange Leaf and going to the Humane Society helped though!
Mommy and Emily and I had a fun week off from school.  We were all in really good moods, and I was a big helper and very pleasant.  I helped bring everything in from a Sam's trip, even a 42 pound plastic container of kitty litter. It fell off the back of Mommy's car and landed on my leg.  It hurt really bad, but I was a trooper!  I also helped Mommy weed the garden one morning.  I worked out with Daddy a couple times and he was impressed with how hard I exercised.
We spent a lot of time at the Humane Society, and looked at a litter of kittens.  We went to look at a kitty named Twist.  He is a really cute kitten who likes to play and snuggle.  We really fell in love with one named Dexter.  He was sleepy because he got sick in the car on the way there.  He fell asleep on his back in Mommy's lap and let me snuggle him too.  When we got home and checked his profile, we found out that he really isn't normally a snuggler, and only was because he got sick.  So, Twist it was!  It took him 2 weeks to gain enough weight to be neutered (he is only 2 pounds!)  I was so patient and understanding every time he got weighed and was too small.  I had tears of joy in my eyes when I found out we were getting him and when we went to pick him up!  I really love having him home.  I am still a little scared of his playful kitty scratching and biting though.
I got to go to Marque's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese and had a blast with my kindergarten friends one last time.  We also went and visited a babysitter named Miss Bruna and Emily will go there next year.  She will be really close to us at Cedar Ridge.  She was really nice and even gave me a hug when I met her. We made a quick trip to Washington for Great-great uncle Ralph Marquart's funeral.  I didn't really want to go, but I had a really good attitude and was very pleasant to everyone.  Before we left, I wanted to know if we would see Ralph.  I was confused because we didn't go to the visitation.
One day, we went to Tiger Bounce with Brynn and Bella.  It was a lot of fun and I loved bouncing and climbing.  We also made a trip to the library for summer reading and to check out books.  We checked out more when we went back for Reading to Rover less than a week later.  I read through them so fast!  Emily and I went to Nana Arden's while Mommy and Daddy went to a wedding.  She let us go through the sprinklers and it was so much fun!  We also went to Camille's birthday party.  I didn't want to leave because I really enjoyed playing with my cousins.
We had a cardinal nest right outside our kitchen window that we watched this month.  It was so cool to watch the mama bird build the nest, and to see the eggs, and then watch her keep them warm.  One day, we were so surprised that they hatched!  I loved watching the mama bird feed them and the daddy came to bring food too sometimes.  Then one day, they were gone.  I wish we could have watched them learn to fly.  I hope they come back to visit!
I love to listen to songs on the radio.  One song has been stuck in my brain: "Hey all, you're an All Star, get your groove on, get paid!"  (All Star by Smash Mouth)
I started summer school at Cedar Ridge already and really like my summer school teacher, Miss Schooler.  I got to meet her at Open House and she loves kitties and has two cats herself!  I was "kind of nervous" to start, but made a new friend the first day.  I only remembered that her name started with an 'A" the first day, and then found out her name is Ayana.  I am officially a Cedar Ridge Cardinal!  We had a small class the first week, but today the two first grade classes were combined.  We have 32 kids in our class now!  Not all the students were behaving, so we had to practice and make rules instead of having PE.  I am hoping things change soon because I love to have PE!
This past weekend, Mommy, Daddy, and I went to a Cardinals baseball game.  Emily stayed with Grandma Kathy.  We also got to visit Uncle Mark and Chase for a little bit before leaving for the game.  My girl cousins came to the game and I wanted to be with them instead of sitting with my parents.  It was really hot too so we watched most of the game on the TV in the shade.  It went into a rain delay after the 5th inning and we left.  They ended up beating the Royals!

6 Years, 3 Months...Lots of changes coming!

We did some fun things this month!  Mommy took Emily and me to visit Lillian in her new house.  I had so much fun playing outside with Grayson and Stephen.  We had a surprise visit from Kristy, Randy, Anthony, and Randy's mom when they were in town for a rained out baseball game.  It was so good to see them!  We also had Jonathan's birthday party.  I went to Charlee's birthday party with swimming, soccer, and a bounce house.  It was a lot of fun.  I did find out my buddy Ari was only going to be with our class for two more weeks because he is moving.  I was so sad. I learned how to do the YMCA at school, and Mommy taught me how to do the Macarena.  I helped plant sunflowers, peppers, carrots, cucumbers, cantaloupe, and watermelon in the garden.  I can't wait to see them grow!  I had a play date at Carrie's house and rode a scooter for the first time.  I loved it so much, I decided to buy a scooter with my birthday money.  I got to watch one of Jacob's soccer games.  I met Mommy in the media center when they had a volunteer reception at school.  I have really liked having her help in the workroom this year, and I am going to miss that next year.  I was really excited to be teacher's helper one day too!
One Friday, Nana Arden picked me up from school and I got to spend the night at her house.  I love doing that!  The next day, I had my first track meet.  I wanted to run the 400 meter run.  I actually said yes to signing up for it, but that day, I was so scared and cried!  I didn't know what to expect and the gun really terrified me.  I told Mommy, "It's like you hate me for signing me up for these things.  Even if I like it, I'm not doing it again!"  They lined us up and I nervously played with my hair.  After the gun went off, I was the last person off the line.  When I got going though, I realized it wasn't so bad.  I passed everyone but two girls to take 3rd place with a time of 1:50.  I was really proud of myself and can't wait to do it again (despite what I originally said!)
We have been finishing the year with Girl Scouts.  I made a bird feeder with a bagel and peanut butter in one meeting and we had our end of the year party.  The 1st graders got to "bridge" to being Brownies.  I had a blast playing on the playground!  We only have one more meeting this year.
We had two field trips this month too and I got to ride on a school bus!  The first one was to the Planetarium and I liked how the "sky" changed colors and then showed us the stars.  The second one was to Runge Nature Center and Mommy got to come!  We got to watch a presentation on reptiles, look at animal exhibits, and then go on a nature hike.  I also got to do the Lego club two more times.
Daddy has been really, really busy and we miss him a lot.  One night, Mommy took Emily and me to watch a North Callaway baseball game so we could see him.  I got to sit in the press box with all the important people!
I started the Kids on Track program again, where I will walk or run 26.2 miles this summer.  During the kickoff to run the first 1.2 miles, my friend Carrie went off with another friend.  I decided to run by myself.  I ran the whole thing!  I was really proud of myself and I think Mommy was too!  She ran with me and helped me pace myself and keep me going.  I think I could have gone farther. After, I said, "It only matters that I finished proud!"
I had four soccer games this month.  The first one was in the rain, and it had to be called halfway through because the rain really picked up.  The second one was against a really tough team.  Mommy and Daddy were so proud of how hard I worked, how fast I hustled, how I blocked some of their shots, and most of all, that I had really good sportsmanship.  My coach e-mailed Mommy after the game to tell her how proud she was of how hard I worked!  The next game was on Daddy's birthday.  Our fourth game this month was also in the rain!  I really enjoy soccer and want to play next season.
We have been having informal soccer practices with Bella and Brynn, and we rotate the house we go to.  It has been a lot of fun, but I like the playing after dinner more than anything.  We put on some funny plays a couple of times.  When we hosted it the first time, the other girls didn't want to do that though.  I was really upset because I was looking forward to putting a play on at my house.  I said some very rude things to my friends, and they both ended up in tears because we were wasting our play time.  I threw an EPIC fit!  Mommy was very disappointed in me, and I was very upset with myself.  I told her (without her mentioning it) that I would have a better attitude before the next practice, and I did!
We got to celebrate Mother's Day and Daddy's birthday on the same day!  I wanted Mommy to have a good Mother's Day, and I made some nice cards for her, as well as some coupons.  I am going to do the dishes, paint her fingernails and toenails, and a foot massage.  I can't wait for her to cash them in, even if they have no expiration date!  We made salt dough "ornaments" for my grandmas and I enjoyed painting them and putting my hand prints and Emily's footprints in them.  For Daddy, we got him eye glass cleaner (that he wanted) and a gift certificate for a massage to help him relax when the year is over!
I have said some memorable things this month too.  I finally decided that my socks were too small, so we went to Old Navy to get bigger ones.  I said, "I look like a teenager!"  I also said, "Charlee is my bestie."  I woke up one morning at 5 AM because of a nightmare.  I told Mommy that "someone was going to kill me."  I have those dreams every once in a while and they really scare me!  I was upset with Mommy one afternoon and told her, "I can use a stern voice too!"  When I saw a homeless man, I said, "He can have whatever we don't need.  We have all that we need."  I'm pretty sure Mommy had a tear in her eye after I said that.
Probably the most exciting thing this month was that  the dog I fell in love with after my birthday in February (Ignatius-"Iggy") was back!  Daddy saw him on the website and said he was a good size and he wouldn't mind checking him out.  He is a 10 month old Australian Shepherd/lab mix.  So, Mommy took Emily and me to the Humane Society and he was already outside, ready to play with me.  He jumped a little, but then calmed down.  He just licked Emily on the face and then they ignored each other.  He followed me around, like I was his "human".  We found a cute gray kitten named Dice too.
Stay tuned to find out what happens next!
