6 Years, 8 Months...Rocking this school thing!

I got recognized twice this month at school for my behavior!  Mommy started something called the responsibility train for students who do things above and beyond what is expected of them.  I was the first student to get recognized because I organized a class library without being asked. We had an assembly and Daddy came!  Mommy got to call my name too!  That was so cool!  I was also surprised later that month because my music teacher nominated me for Cardinal Club, for students who show good character.  I got to have pizza for lunch in the library with other students, and will be recognized at the next assembly!
I do get sad when kids in my class are too chatty, especially when we have a substitute.  I don't think it is hard to behave, and I really like being a good role model.  Mommy has heard me many times encouraging other kids and checking to make sure they are ok.  I think she is kind of proud of me.
I was also tested for the gifted program (although I didn't know what it was for.)  I really liked seeing Mrs. Cardetti again (who did lessons with us in kindergarten.)  I scored much higher this time and took another, longer test with someone I didn't know.  I really liked the puzzles, pictures, and blocks, but some of the words were hard.  We should find out in about a month.
I really like playing at recess with Gabe, Dylan, Liam, and Boone.  I am on the "boys team" when we play chase and can't wait to go out again.
I went to Girl Scouts a few times this month, and really started to get sad and scared when we left.  We walk as a troop from school over to the church and twice in a row, I cried as I passed Mommy.  She didn't know why the first time and let me stay.  I said I didn't feel well, but I also didn't like how the Brownies and Daisies come together at the end.  I was scared because I didn't know the Brownies.  The second time, I had to go, but Mommy told me that the older kids were all really nice and she asked them to look out for me.  I also really liked the leader who let me walk over with her.  She went to Shepard when she was a kid too!
I have had a couple of soccer games too.  One of them was against my Shepard friend Mattson!  I do a lot of really good hustling to the ball, but get kind of timid when I get there and don't want to kick it.  One day was really busy!  I did the pumpkin run (1.8 miles on a trail around a lake) with Mommy and Emily, had my soccer game (Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom came to watch), went out to Houlihan's, and had Corinne spend the night!  It was so great having Grandma and Grandpa here!  The waitress at Houlihan's said that I was the only kid she ever had who talked to her and that I had very good manners.  What a great compliment!  Corinne and I had fun that night, but she woke me up at 5:00 the next morning and said she could tell time and it was time to get up!  I was super crabby and tired that day.  I took a 2 hour nap and was still exhausted!  We went to Catherine's birthday party later that afternoon.
We didn't have school one day but Mommy still had meetings, so I got to hang out with Nana Arden!  We may or may not have gone to Orange Leaf and I may have gotten wedding cake frozen yogurt!
We have been having our play dates too.  Mommy had a meeting one night and we skipped one week.  I was really sad, but the next week it was at our house.  I have also gotten mad at Mommy several times because she doesn't pack candy in my lunch box.  I think it's because she doesn't love me, but she says it's because she wants me to eat healthy.  Whatever!
Mommy took me to another Mizzou game and it was a lot of fun.  I cheered so loud, the cheerleaders gave me a box of free popcorn!
Our class went on a field trip this month.  We walked to the fire station across the street for fire prevention week.  We read books, listened to firefighters talk about their jobs, and made a fire truck snack that we got to eat!
Our family also went to Mommy's friend Jeanine's wedding.  It was my first wedding ever!  It was outside on a firetruck in the park.  It was really pretty, and I kept waving at the bride.  She smiled at me and told me later that it made her day!  I didn't want to leave, but it was a Sunday night and I had school the next day.  I missed out on the cake!

6 Years, 7 Months...School is off to a great start!

I finally got to start 1st grade at Cedar Ridge Elementary, Mommy and my new school!  I was so excited for that first day and I completely LOVE it!  I was chosen to be teacher's helper, a role I adore.  Cedar Ridge has kindergarten and 1st grade together, 2nd and 3rd grade together, and 4th and 5th grade together.  Our class is very large with 3 sections.  I had 32 kids in my math class and my reading class was not much better.  I did coloring sheets and watched videos the first couple of weeks until we were allowed to have another section added.  I still have my same teachers, but my classes are a lot smaller.  I think I will be able to learn a lot more now.
The reading teacher tested me and gave Mommy the results.  Mrs. Sicht told Mommy and Daddy that I was reading at a level 4 which surprised them since I am already reading some chapter books by myself.  Well, Mrs. Hays tested me at a level 24 and stopped there!  That is late 2nd grade, and the highest in my class (although that has been kept a secret from me.)  I just love to read so much!  I'm really enjoying math too.  I love homework and wish they would give me more!
We had an ice cream social at Cedar Ridge already this year and I really enjoyed showing off our new school to Daddy. We also already did school pictures.  Mommy is trying really hard to have me treated like every other kid at school and not have special treatment since she is there.  However, she ate with all new students first in her office and since I am new, that included me!
I also joined Girl Scouts again this year.  I am in a different troop, with girls from my new school.  There are only 4 Daisies in my troop and I really enjoy it.  We meet every other Wednesday after school until 5:00 which is a lot different than my old troop.
I had a sleepover with Bella at her house and at my house this month.  We had a really good time, aside from a few minor spats.  However, we discovered that not only can Bella and I not sleep in the same bed, we can't sleep in the same room!  At Bella's house, I kept rolling over on top of her.  She didn't like that very much.  She ended up sleeping in her parents' bed after her mom sat in her room with me until I fell asleep.  At my house, Bella said I made too much noise and rolled over too much.  We finally fell asleep after Mommy laid on the floor with Bella.  Those were some late nights!
We had a play date at my house the afternoon/evening after the first day of school.  That sounded like a good idea at the time, to hear how everyone's first day was, but everyone ended up in tears!  The next 3 play dates went better, and we even started soccer practice again.  Get this-Bella, Brynn, and Corinne are on my soccer team-Team Brazil!  I scored two goals in my first game!  This is going to be a great year!
I had so many birthday parties this month too-Carrie's at Flipz, Ashley's at an indoor pool, Corinne's at her house (all the same weekend!), and Riley's at a hotel for a tea party.  It had been a long time since I saw Riley!
We had a fun visit from Aunt Heather, Uncle Sean, Ashley, and Ian.  I had a lot of fun with them, especially making videos on Ashley's school iPad.  Ashley really likes babies and spent a lot of time with Emily, and I felt a little left out. We also had dinner at Nana Arden's over Labor Day weekend.
I also got to have some extra time with Mommy this month.  We ran some errands and went to a Mizzou volleyball game again.  I also get to spend some alone time in her office and in the car with her.  We have both missed that time!
Mommy took Emily and me to North Callaway for their homecoming parade.  It was a lot of fun, and I got so much candy!  Being the principal's daughter has its perks!
Another change is that I spend a lot of time in my room.  Sometimes I am reading, but a lot of the time I am cleaning out my room.  I have given most of my toys to Emily because I am "over My Little Ponies" and I want my room to be neater without so much stuff in it.  In fact, I said all I want for Christmas and my birthday is my ears pierced and earrings.  I'm growing up so fast!
Funny thing I said this month-"I have the chicken pox-I'm cold!"  (I think I meant the goose bumps!)
I absolutely love my sister!
And I think she loves me too!
First day of 1st grade! 8/18/15, Teacher: Miss Schooler, I want to be an animal shelter worker
