9 Years Old...Branching out and getting older!

We had a snow day the day after MLK day.  We went to Kohl's and Old Navy as a family before doing the volleyball practice and dance at night.  Since they start at the same time and Daddy had to be at work one Tuesday night, I went into volleyball practice by myself while Mommy took Emily to dance.  I was really nervous, but it gave me confidence to do it in the future.  I have had several volleyball games.  The pace is picking up a little, although our schedule has changed several times and there are now only two teams to play against each other.
Brynn and I spent the night at Bella's house on a Saturday night.  It had been a long time since it had been just the "big kids".  It was nice to have some time without Emily being around.  Ella also came over for a sleepover one night, and Corinne came over to play then next day.  It snowed a little bit and we went outside, but there wasn't much we could do in the snow.  It was nice to get outside though!  We have had a couple snow days and a late start because of the snow and ice.  Another day, I went to my volleyball game, then Bella's birthday party at Paint the Town, and then a sleepover at Ella's.  It was a busy afternoon!
One night when Daddy had to work late, we had a girls' night!  It was fun watching a movie and eating ice cream, and trying a sleepover in Emily's room.  That went bad very quickly when Emily wouldn't stay in her room and kept getting up.  I was tired and wanted to go to bed, but she kept me up.  I ended up going to my room to sleep while Mommy kept trying to get her to go to sleep.  She can be a pest sometimes.
We went over to Nana Arden's to visit her one Sunday after she broke her shoulder.  It was hard seeing her just sitting, because she normally plays with us a lot.
Choir has started back up and I am really getting into the choreography.  We are doing a 50s theme.  I tried out for a part, and I am a grandma with Gabe being the grandpa.  I joined the spring Girls on the Run team and I am enjoying it so far.  We have some different coaches and I really like them too.
I have had to stay after school while Mommy has meetings or is catching up on work, and even though I don't always want to, I try to help out her or other teachers when I can.  I really just like to either sit and read or watch YouTube videos.
I had a Learning Fair at EEE to show off my project in my Celts class.  Mommy was able to make it and I was really glad I could show her my Hadrian's Wall that I created.  I was really nervous, but I made it through!
My birthday week was busy with Valentine's day to start.  We had our parties at school, and Daddy sent me some chocolate covered strawberries.  I was so surprised!  It was a shame that Mommy had to work on my birthday, so we celebrated on Valentine's day!  For my birthday, Mommy and I made almond bark pretzels with sprinkles.  I love them and they are so fun to make!  I got a volleyball net!  I can't wait to set it up and play in the backyard!  I had my parent teacher conference on my birthday.  I had a very good report and my parents and teachers (Mrs. Mantle and Miss Ferguson-student teacher) were very proud of me.  I still need to work on my spelling and multiplication facts, but I am doing great in everything else!
I can't wait to update next month and share about my birthday parties!

8 Years, 11 Months...Christmas, play dates, and volleyball!

This month started out on a bad note.  I was supposed to spend the night with Madelyn at her dad's house, but she got sick right before I was supposed to get there.  I was so disappointed and angry the rest of the night, even though we made it up with a family fun night.  Good thing good times were just around the corner!
We had our last week at school before Christmas break and I was sad it was over.  I really miss school when I am not there.  I love to learn!  We had our Christmas party, and the next day, I got to go to Emily's school Christmas party.  The next day, we had our family Christmas.  Even though it wasn't on Christmas Day, it was really nice to have a full day at home with our family without having to rush off anywhere.  That was for the next two days!  Santa gave me a Descendants microphone and an Amusement Park Lego Friends that I put together right away!  It takes up so much room.  I got a lot of presents, but Mom and Dad signed me up to be on a volleyball team!  I've been waiting to do this since I was 5 years old!
We went to Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's for Christmas Eve.  I had so much fun playing our made up game of Twister with my cousins, and playing and dancing with Hadley.  I got the Golden Retriever stuffed dog that I have been wanting since this summer!  It looks so real that I have scared several people with it when I place it in strategic places!
Christmas Day was super busy!  We went to Papa Ron and Nana Carol's house in the morning.  I had a lot of fun doing a Nerf gun war with Chase (even though it scared me at first!) and dancing with Papa Ron, Mommy, and Emily!  I got the Lego Friends pool (also put together the next day!)  After that, we went and visited Great Grandma Rose.  It was really good to see her.  She had been sick so we couldn't get too close.  Since it was early enough in the day, we raced back home, unloaded, picked up Molly, brought her back home, and then went to Nana Arden and Papa Rodney's!  More Legos and books (already put together and read!)
I'm glad we got to see my cousins and family, but by the end of the night, I was in meltdown mode.  I even said I hate Christmas and cried myself to sleep.  It was a good Christmas, but probably too much packed into one day.  We spaced things out a little more for the rest of break.  The day after Christmas, we visited Mr. Kenny.  It is always nice to see him and see his Christmas village.  It is quite impressive!  I got to have a play date with Ella the next day, and Mommy took me and Emily to Kirksville to visit Stacey and her family the next day.  I got to hold Carter for the first time!  The next day, we went shopping as a family.  We needed to do some returns and grocery shopping.  It was a busy and fun day.
New Year's Eve was celebrated at Brynn's house again.  The kids played downstairs while the grownups played games upstairs.  This was the start of me being completely annoyed with Emily.  At one point, I even asked if we could sell her!  I just want my own space and friends and that doesn't happen with her around.  She went home early with Daddy, so I got to have some time.  We left before midnight, but I stayed up to watch the ball drop at home!
Cami came over for a play date on New Year's Day.  The next day, Daddy went back to work.  That was a short break for him!  We went to get our hair cut by Kaitlyn.  I got layers put into my hair, and I really like it!  I had an orthodontist appointment the next day, and he said I may get my braces off in April, but definitely by May!  I chose Mizzou colors again for my power chain and bands.
The next day was back to school.  It was nice getting back to the routine, but only for 2 days.  We had Lila over for a play date on Sunday, and had a late start on Monday due to ice.  We also had an early out that week because it was supposed to ice.  The next day, we had a play date at our house, and things seemed back to normal.  (I'm still annoyed by Emily!)  I also had Ella over for a play date and sleepover.  We went to bed way too late, but the next day we played in the snow and her dad took us and her sisters swimming.  We were supposed to go back to school the next day, but it was called off.  Three day school week!
I got to start volleyball though!  We had our first practice, and then a game that weekend.  I really thought it was going to be like a Mizzou volleyball game, but it was MUCH slower paced.  I really enjoy it though, and can tell I am going to get better.  I even scored the first game point!
