9 1/3 Years Old...Sleepovers!!!

I have kept myself busy before and after school with choir, piano, Girls on the Run.  I also joined Student Council, and mom is the main moderator.  I decided to run for Secretary and wrote my own speech.  When I got to the meeting, I found out I was the only one running for Secretary.  I immediately felt much more confident.  I did win, and I am really excited to get started.  We had our EEE Open House too, and I had a lot of fun finding the clocks hidden in the school.  Our theme is Time.  I am in the play with Mrs. Rohr's class (I am a busy bee) and in the mythology class.  I got both classes that I wanted!
We have already had picture day and should get the pictures back soon.  I also was surprised with a flu shot.  It took two adults to keep me in my chair, but I did it!  It didn't hurt as bad as I remembered.  But, I was mad at mom for signing me up for one!
I was invited to my friend Keri's birthday party sleepover and mom and dad were not going to let me spend the night because they had never met her mom.  After texting with her, they felt much better and they let me go!  I ended up staying up until 3:30 in the morning and was exhausted and took a 3 hour nap the next day.
The next week, I went to Lila's birthday sleepover and stayed up just as late!  Lila went with us to South Farm the next day and we had fun in the corn maze and walking around.
I had a day off school and spent it with Nana Arden.  She took me to the library and a pottery painting place.  I painted an elephant, so now I have all three of my favorite animals!
I have done a few things with Girls on the Run.  I went to hang out with the Columbia College women's basketball team and really enjoyed meeting them and playing basketball.  Sarah was my favorite player and I hope to watch her play sometime this year.  I also went to hang out with Rock Bridge High School's girls tennis team.  I really enjoyed tennis as well!  I would love to play more of both sports.  Corinne was my favorite player there.  I went with Cami to a swing dancing thing.  It was fun, but not as much fun as the others.  Cami spent the night that night and we again, stayed up way too late talking!
I have been to all the MU volleyball games so far.  Mom took Emily and me to one and we had a good time.  Our family went to Shakespeare's for pizza one night and Emily and I had fun playing with the dough.
I have been going to Emily's soccer games.  My grandparents come to a lot of the games, but it's hard not being the center of attention like I used to be.
We had a visit from Papa Ron and Nana Carol even though Emily's soccer game was canceled.  I was able to give them a tour of our new school, and we went to get fried chicken from HyVee.   I enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball outside with Papa Ron.  Later that day, we went to Aunt Lisa's to celebrate Papa Rodney's birthday and I got to play with Corinne.  Then, I went over to Ella's house to spend the night.  I haven't spent much time with her lately at school so it was really nice to hang out with her.  We stayed up until 11:00 talking, not as bad as the other sleepovers!  Our family went apple picking the next day.  It was a lot of fun to see all the animals on the farm.

9 Years, 7 Months...volleyball and friends!

This month has been full of volleyball and get-togethers with friends!  I attended the Black and Gold Clinic and Scrimmage with Ella, and she spent the night afterward.  The game was pretty awesome even though Ali doesn't play anymore because she sat next to us during an entire set!
I finished up the first volleyball clinic and absolutely loved it!  I learned so much and can't wait for it to start up again in the spring.  Daddy set up my volleyball net from my birthday and I play as often as I can.  Better late than never!
Our 3rd-5th grade went on our first field trip-to and MU volleyball game!!! It was the "best field trip ever!" I got to see Ali and Miss Ferguson there.  I was totally in my happy zone.  That night, our family went to a potluck at Emily's preschool, and Bella was there because her sister will start there soon.  Mom was going to take me to the went to MU volleyball game that night, and we took Bella with us!  Two games in one day, plus we went to the MU game the next day with Madelyn and then I spent the night at her house.  This was after Mom and I ran in Lizzy's Walk of Faith 5k.  It was really hard because we had not been running much lately.  I came in at a time of 28:11 (not too shabby!)
I was able to go to Carrie's swimming birthday party and sleepover.  Ella spent the night another night.  As a family, we went to Corinne's birthday party, and to Aunt Lisa's for Labor Day.  I really enjoy playing with my cousins.  I also love playing the piano.  It has been so much fun learning new songs including Ode to Joy.  It really is coming naturally to me.
School hasn't been the most fun for me this year and I really miss our old, small school and Mrs. Mantle.  I'm not happy to get up and go in the morning.  I often stress about getting enough DOJO points for the week because I am gone one day a week for EEE.  Miss Geha recently said that she wouldn't require us to make up the points for the days we are gone, and I was so relieved (even though I always got all the points I needed!)  I'm hoping that makes a difference in how I feel about school.
I did get to go to the Mommy and Me Breakfast at school.  I was really surprised that Mom was able to make it because she had a meeting that morning.  She told me that I was more important than a meeting!
I also had a rite of passage in elementary school this month-the nurse found nits in my hair!  One of my friends told me she had lice, and I started scratching later that day.  Sure enough, I had eggs!  Gross!  I had so many questions for her and she sat me down to watch a video to understand better.  We had to do two treatments at home, my hair was literally combed with a fine toothed comb daily, our stuffed animals were bagged up, and all of our clothes and bedding was washed.  What a mess, but they are gone!
I have had some fun times with Emily.  She was convinced that her Puppy that she sleeps with lost his tooth.  I decided I needed to play "dog fairy" and made sure the water changed in the glass and he was given a dog treat.  Emily has also started playing soccer.  Her first game was played in the pouring rain! Papa Ron and Nana Carol were able to make it and I spent the game watching from the back of their SUV.  Her next game was today in the blazing heat!
