13 Years, 2 Months...End of volleyball, beginning of track!

We had our last volleyball practice and tournament this month. We did really well at Regionals, overall.  Our scores were MAVS KC (25-13 lost, 27-25 lost-but a good fight!), 417 Springfield (25-14 lost, 25-12 lost), Tamales (25-21 won, 25-21 won-we played so well together!).  We took 3rd in our pool of 4, so we played the 2nd place team in the other pool and played Velocity (25-19 lost, 25-15 lost-they are such a good team!)  This put us in the silver bracket.  We played the MAVS and won 25-19, 25-18.  Then we got to go up against our rivals, Performance.  We lost a disheartened game 25-17, 25-20. It was very emotional, and as soon as it was over, I said that I missed playing and my team.

I started track the next week!  I was interested in running the 100, 4x100, 1600, and doing the long jump.  I ended up doing the 1600 and 800.  I ran a 7:14 in the mile and 3:15 in the half mile.  Not too bad, but I went out to fast.  I'll know for next time to run my own race.  The rest of the meet was cancelled because a storm was coming.  The next meet, I did the mile in 7:02 and the half mile in 3:12.  I am improving!  I also did the triple jump and the 4x400.  Because we don't have a huge team, I am able to do 4 events which is really nice.

I've also been able to attend some youth groups since I don't have volleyball on Wednesday nights anymore.  I've really missed these guys!  I did some volunteering at Church and enjoyed the time there.  We had a track meet that was cancelled because of the rain so I was able to the egg scavenger hunt.  It was so much fun.  I was on a team with Jack and Katie, and we won!  That's all I cared about!  Our family went to the Good Friday mass at Church as well and I really enjoyed it.  Mom told me it would be sad and I'm glad I got to experience the story.

Things at home have been a lot more relaxed.  Spring break was pretty chill, and I even come upstairs sometimes to hang out.  I've played solitaire with Mom and Dad, and we have started watching Is It Cake as a family.  We got ice cream one night over spring break and ate it at the park.  Mom took Emily and me to STL and Washington for a couple days.  We briefly visited Aunt Heather and Uncle Sean and then had lunch with Papa Ron.  It was nice to go out to eat (even though it made me very anxious) and to see his office one last time before he retires.  We then went to Washington to spend the night with and spend some time with Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom.  It was really good to hang out with them again.  That night, I went to see the new Batman movie with Olga, Lucy, and Lila and then had a sleepover at Lila's.  Unfortunately, I threw up at the movie theater.  I thought it was just the popcorn until I threw up again early in the morning.  I called Mom to pick me up around 5:30.  I slept all day and felt better the next day for our Church brunch.

I'm looking forward to the end of the school year activities!

13 Years, 1 Month...Full of volleyball!

We did a lot to celebrate my and Emily's birthdays, even though it was different than other birthdays.  We did birthday pictures and dad got to come too because he was off from work.  Papa Ron and Linda came to celebrate Emily and my birthday.  We played the Meme game and had a lot of fun.  Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom came another day to celebrate.  Of course Emily wanted to play the same game! For Emily's birthday, we got donuts and Wendy's, and she got to open her gifts.

I went to Sky Zone for Christian's birthday party.  It has been so long since I have been to a birthday party and it was a lot of fun being with my friends. We had so many snow days this month!  I really enjoyed all the time to just sleep and hang out in my room.  Mom and Dad also met with Pastor Carol about officially joining the church.  I really love the people there and going.  We had a pancake party for Fat Tuesday and the youth group got to make the pancakes for the kids.  It was so much fun!

I have worked really hard at play practice.  I memorized my lines early and enjoyed showing off my acting skills.  I was the daughter in the play about bedtime stories.  It was about Rumpelstiltskin, but I was supposed to turn gold into straw instead of straw into gold.  I ended up giving up my first born and the prince had to work at Pizza Hut to make end's meet.  It was really funny!  I enjoyed Mrs. Johns, and this was her last play as she is retiring this year.

Some members of our volleyball team had a sleepover at Ada's house.  I may or may not have stayed up until 4:00, after a positional and practice.  I was just a little tired the next day.

The Linn tournament was amazing!  We only lost to one team, and the ended up losing half their players right before the championship game to a basketball tournament, and we took first place!  Papa Ron and Linda came and enjoyed watching me really play volleyball.  We had team pictures after the tournament, and they turned out amazing!

Mom had parent teacher conferences, so dad took over a lot of the driving around that week.  He also drives me to school each morning and even though I don't tell him, I like that time with him.  Sometimes we talk, sometimes we sit in silence.  I made a funny joke one day and he laughed so hard.  "I saw a bunch of crows today...I think they were getting into a murder."

We didn't have school after conferences so mom took me to buy fabric for me to make a pillow in my FACS class and we bought track shoes since I will be starting track.  I really like the longer distance, maybe 400, 800, or 1600.

We had both nights of the play and it went so well!  Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom, and Lillian, Stephen, and Grayson came to watch the first night.  I thought we did a really good job, not as much on the second night.  We had a cast party at Culver's after the second night.

The next morning, Dad and I left very early for a volleyball tournament in Chillicothe.  We got 2nd place against mostly 14s!  This past weekend we had a two day volleyball tournament in Lawrence.  We went up early and stayed two nights in a hotel.  We started the tournament 9th out of 12.  We finished the first day ranked 4th, and ended up getting 3rd place!  Our last tournament is this coming weekend.  I can't believe it is coming to a close.

Youth group fun

They celebrated my birthday even though they didn't think I was going to be there.  Glad I could!
