5 Years, 2 Months...Growing up so much!

I have really been interested in learning this month!  I love to try to read words and know how letters sound.  I did an optional activity at school and copied two pages worth of words from flash cards.  Mommy and Daddy were so proud!
I have been talking about different things in the world like power lines and how things work.  I've also been asking more about God and Jesus.  I am more interested in dressing myself lately and like to wear a lot of different patterns.  I also bought the movie Frozen with my own birthday money.
I took several walks with my family this month and had several visitors.  Auntie Heather, Uncle Sean, Ashley, and Ian came and I loved playing with them!  I visited Miss Annie and Mr. Kenny because they are going to watch my sister at the end of this school year.  I love to see them!  I also visited the Easter Bunny with Emily.  I went to a program at the library called Ready, Set, Kindergarten.  I guess I have to get ready!
I have been testing Mommy and Daddy with my attitude and not listening the first time this month.  I even lied to Mommy about taking a vitamin that I actually threw in the trash.  We started a system where I earn a marble each time I follow directions without an attitude the first time they are given.  I have really loved this and like to work toward earning the marbles.  I also told Mommy that I wasn't mad at Emily, but that I was lonely and didn't have a lot of attention.  I said that things used to be fun, but they aren't anymore.  So, we went on a Mommy Daughter date to HyVee for donuts and Kohl's to buy new dresses and tennis shoes.  I liked having that time.
I've also been sick with a fever twice this month.  Good thing I got over it quickly!

5 Years, 1 Month...I'm a Big Sister!!!

It finally happened!  My baby sister was born on February 21st, 6 days after my 5th birthday!  I am so excited to have her here.  Daddy woke me up early that morning to tell me my sister was coming that day!  Nana Arden came over to take me to preschool, and then picked me up to bring me to the hospital to meet her.  I got to tell everyone that her name is Emily Kathleen.  I am so proud!
Mommy and Daddy keep telling me that I am such a good big sister.  I love to sing "Hush Little Baby" and "You Are My Sunshine" to Baby Emily.  When she is upset, I like to get a book and read to her.  I help Mommy and Daddy out too by getting whatever they need for her.  I've also been pretty responsible with other things too.  Our first weekend home together, I got up by myself, made my bed, got dressed, and set out breakfast.  I like to help with laundry and dishes too.  I am really good about playing by myself, especially coloring and drawing.  I need to show Baby Emily how to act!
Nana Arden picked me up from school a lot of days and I got to hang out at her house while Mommy and Daddy were busy.  That was a lot of fun.  I was at Nana Arden's house and was asked if I wanted to go on a walk with Emily.  I got really excited when I found out it was her first walk!  We got our family pictures taken by Marion and that was a lot of fun.  We will post them soon.
Grandma Kathy came up and stayed with us for a few days.  That was awesome!  I even got to go to McDonald's with her and Nana Arden.  I love to be the center of their attention!  Grandma Kathy took care of Emily while Mommy and Daddy took me to Pastries with Parents at preschool and kindergarten round-up.  That's right, I'm registered for kindergarten!  When we got there, a nice boy named Carter took me to see a kindergarten room while Mommy and Daddy filled out paperwork.  I sat down nicely and colored until they came to get me.  We took a tour of the school.  Mommy and Daddy said they are not sure where I will actually be going to kindergarten next year, and I am OK with that.  They also told me that Mommy will not be working next year and will stay home with Emily.  That didn't bother me either.  I think Mommy wanted me to go to school with her though.
It's hard when Mommy and Daddy can't play with me because they are busy.  One time, Mommy tried to play with me but kept falling asleep.  Later, she came in my room and said, "#1-I'm very proud of you, #2-I love you so much, #3-I'm really sorry I couldn't stay awake and play with you."  I replied, "#3-I forgive you!"  I also was setting the table (something I take great pride in) and forgot where the forks go.  Mommy always told me that the forks go on the side that I write with (left).  I went to get a crayon to help me figure out which side that was!
So many things are changing in my life lately, and I am handling it pretty well.  The only behaviors I am showing is that I have a hard time listening at times and tend to interrupt.  That's just because I want attention!  I also have about one crying meltdown a day about things that normally wouldn't bother me.  I think I just need to let my feelings out.  I know Mommy and Daddy love me no matter what.

5 Years...Snow and birthday parties!!!

I'm 5 Years Old now!!!!  Mommy and daddy can't believe I am that old already!
I had two weeks off school this month.  I took my last trip to see Auntie Heather and Uncle Sean and Ashley and Ian before my sister is born and at the end of the trip, I just wasn't acting right.  Then, I started complaining that "my brain hurt".  The next day, I had a 101.5 fever and complained that everything hurt.  I went to the doctor and had a negative rapid strep test, but he said all my symptoms showed that I had strep.  I went on some yucky chewable medicine that I had to take twice a day for 10 days.  I hated it, but I did it every day.  I even went back to the doctor to check if I had pink eye.  I didn't, but I was out the whole week with a fever.
I was out another week because of the ice and snow.  Mommy and daddy and I had lots of together time!  On the weeks I was at school, I got to go to the gym bus.  I just started and I really like it a lot!  Jeff is my favorite because he is really funny.
One morning in the car, I told Mommy that I just "prayed to God for our house and food and for people."  For some reason, Mommy started to cry.  We had a good talk about God and Jesus and how people can be mean.
We got to celebrate my birthday three weekends in a row.  The first Saturday, we were supposed to have my friend birthday party at Flipz but had to postpone it until the next day.  Emma and Bella and I were all going to celebrate our birthdays together.  Another boy in our class (Noble) was having his birthday party there the next day and offered to let us all join him.  That was so nice of him.  We had a really good time!  We collected food and items for animals who didn't have homes and food.  I was very proud that we did this!
The next weekend, I had my family birthday party at my house.  It was so nice to have everyone come!
Finally, today was my actual birthday.  We had donuts for breakfast, mac and cheese for lunch, pizza for dinner, and popcorn and a movie before bed.  It was a nice, relaxing day.  I was hoping to share my birthday with my baby sister, but maybe she will be born tomorrow.
