5 3/4 Years...Ups and downs

This has been a very busy month with a lot of ups and downs.  A lot of fun things have happened, but I have also had a hard time controlling my emotions.
I had some fun stuff happen at school.  Daddy was off school one day and brought me lunch (McDonald's), and Mommy brought me lunch (Subway) another day after she got back from her conference. They sold spirit sticks at school and Mommy and Daddy bought me one and I used my own money to buy another one-a cat and a dog.  We carved a pumpkin at school and I stuck my hand in it twice, but it was gross!  We had our Halloween party and Mommy helped us make popcorn and candy corn hands in a clear glove.  That was fun!  We also played Halloween bingo.
It was really cold for trick-or-treating this year!  I was Elsa from Frozen and had to wear clothes under my costume, plus a coat.  After about 10 houses, I was done!  I wanted to hand out candy, but we all headed down to the Lake of the Ozarks for Mommy's conference.  We got to go shopping before Daddy took Emily and me back home.  I was very distracted while we were shopping and it was hard for Mommy and Daddy to get my attention.  While Mommy was gone at her conference, Daddy and Emily and I played outside.  I really liked playing chase with her.  We also visited Nana Arden, and she picked me up from school that Monday, took me to Girl Scouts, and I spent the night at her house because I didn't have school the next day.  It was nice to have Mommy back.  She took Emily and me to vote after she picked us up.
I am enjoying my big sister role with Emily a lot!  I have started picking her up and carrying her around (usually away from danger or my stuff.)  She seems to like it now, but I have been warned that she won't always like it!  I really like to read to her too.  I am really good at reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?  It does bother me now though when she starts getting into my stuff.
A few of the other fun things we have done this month include: an MU and North Callaway volleyball game, the Stallion Stampede at my school (like a carnival), the MU homecoming parade (too bad we couldn't find a parking spot and couldn't sit close), pumpkin carving, a sleepover with my cousin Corinne, Mommy's counseling friends came over, Brynn's birthday party at Paint the Town, and family pictures on Mizzou's campus.  I really enjoy playing soccer outside.  Maybe I will even join a team this spring! I have been making Mommy laugh lately because I have memorized several radio commercials and recite them.  I have loved doing art projects lately, and teaching Mommy how to do them.  I also helped Mommy make steamed carrots, pumpkin muffins, and sweet potatoes.  I noticed that everything we made was orange!
I have been trying to assert my independence lately and have been rather sassy, as well as getting upset when things don't go perfectly.  I have been complaining that I do not feel well too-sore throat and tummy ache-since Mommy got back but I haven't gotten sick or had a fever.  One morning when Mommy was trying to wake me up, I said, "I just wish for one day you would leave me alone!"  I think I was half asleep and wanted to stay in bed.  I threw a fit one night when I messed up on a letter and couldn't get it perfect.  Another night, I was not listening to directions and ended up losing TV privileges and books for the night.  I really threw a fit then and couldn't calm down for hours.  I was finally able to explain that I wanted to be able to color all the acorns on my reading chart for Pizza Hut just like October's and I couldn't color one if I lost my books.
I was really nervous about parent teacher conferences because I didn't understand what was going to happen and I was worried that I wouldn't remember what I wrote when I needed to read it.  It was actually a really cool conference and Mrs. Sicht and Mommy and Daddy were really proud of me!  Mrs. Sicht said I was a strong writer and that I have good learning behavior on the carpet during learning time.  She also noticed that I am a very tender girl and get upset when things don't go just right. Mommy said she was the same way when she was little.  I just hope I am able to learn to relax soon!

5 2/3 Years...I'm a busy girl and learning so much!

I am learning so much in school, and I love my teacher Mrs. Sicht!  I like to pretend that I am her and I repeat a lot of things she says in class.  We had a surprise birthday party for her at school.  It was so much fun!  We also had a pizza party at school for selling passport books.  Mommy and Emily came to both parties.  I love all my special classes too-art, music, P.E., and computers.
I am starting to care more about what I wear too.  I like to dress a certain way.  For instance, I wanted to dress like a volleyball player for a couple of days.  I got some new boots and like to dress like a cowgirl.  Of course, I love my Frozen clothes too!  We had picture day at school too.  I can't wait to see how they turn out!  I also lost my second tooth.  It was barely hanging in there and just fell out when I was leaving Aunt Lisa's.  I have been kidding about it falling out for a long time, so Mommy didn't believe me when it did!  The fairy tooth water was yellow this time.
I had my first Girl Scouts meeting too.  It was a lot of fun.  We listened to a story and made a daisy with the words "fair" and "honest" on it.  We will meet every other Monday.
Other school stuff-Daddy got to pick me up one day when he got out of work early.  Boy, was I surprised!  Nana Arden picked me up once too and I was really excited.  I got the flu mist at school and it was no big deal!  We went to McTeacher Night as a family to support Shepard.
I am pretty sweet on one boy in my class, Ari.  He said he is going to marry me and build me a house.  I told him that it had to have a front porch.
I have already been late to school twice.  Both was because we were stuck in traffic.  I don't like getting to school early because it is pretty boring to have to wait in the cafeteria, but we are leaving earlier now so we are there on time even if there is traffic.
Mommy has started volunteering at my school and I really like it when she brings projects home that I can help with.  I love to help!  Daddy let me put flags in the ground to mark our sprinklers before we had our yard seeded.  I really liked getting wet too.  Then, I helped pull the flags out of the ground and pick up large sticks that fell when we had a lot of rain.
Some days I am sad or angry after school.  One day, I got really angry that I didn't cut as much as Mommy was on one of the projects and the night went really bad.  I tell Mommy that "something in my heart hurts, but I don't know what."  She said that she thinks I am tired, and I do feel a lot better after I get a good night's sleep.  One morning when Mommy was trying to wake me up, I said, "I have to finish writing my name."  She asked what letter I was on.  I told her I was on the first "L" and woke up after I finished my name!
It is nice having Mommy home because we can do fun things after school sometimes.  We have gone to the park, to the spray park, and have gone on several nice walks.
Our family has gone to several North Callaway and Mizzou volleyball games.  I really enjoy watching them, and I am really loud at cheering!  I got to make a poster for my favorite MU player, #5 (because I am 5 years old and she has blonde hair.) I also got to go to the North Callaway homecoming parade.  That was a blast and I got a LOT of candy!  Daddy also took me to a North Callaway softball game.
We went over to Nana Arden's for Papa Rodney's birthday and Jacob was there.  I had a lot of fun playing soccer with him and Papa Rodney.  We also went to Catherine's birthday party this month, and to Aunt Lisa's to celebrate Papa Rodney's birthday again.  Nana Arden stayed with me and Emily one evening while Mommy and Daddy went to a literacy night at Shepard.  We made a quick trip to see Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom because it has been a while since we saw them and it will be a while before we see them again.
Mommy had a couple of friends (Lillian and Jeanine) over one night and I enjoyed seeing them.  Stacey and Jaxson and Harrison came over too one Saturday.  Jaxson and I played t-ball for a little bit and he wanted to go inside.  I kept playing!
I got to see Brynn a couple of times this month too!  We met her family at South Farm and I got to see lots of animals and go on a hay ride.  We also met them at Paint the Town and I got to paint an owl!  I really surprised Mommy that I didn't choose to paint a pink and purple unicorn.
