8 Years Old...So many things to celebrate!!!

There were so many fun things that happened this month!
I got to go to a play date without Emily because I was at Girl Scouts and Daddy picked her up.  I love my sister, but I really do enjoy having time without her!  I was invited to go to the MU gymnastics meet with Madelyn, her mom, and step-sister Lydia.  We went to Shakespeare's first and I got a gum ball.  It was the best thing ever!
We had a fun family day that started with errands-to the bank to use the coin counter, then the library, and finally to Cosmo park!  The weather has been so nice for it being winter!  Then, we played Candyland as a family.  Emily and my favorite game to play at home is "Mommy's a Dragon!"  Basically, we run around and Mommy has to stay on her hands and knees on the carpet trying to catch us. We went to visit Nana Arden and Papa Rodney one weekend morning for a change in scenery and I got to hang out with Corinne who was there.
Mommy challenged the school to raise $500 in honor of a student who has cancer and we raised more than $600.  We had an assembly and she got over 12 inches of her hair cut off.  I was so scared, but was surprised when Nana Arden, Grandma Kathy, Grandpa Tom, and Daddy showed up to support her at the school!
On a school workday, I helped Mommy a lot at school and got all her work done, so we got to have an afternoon to ourselves!  We went to Party City for my birthday party gifts, McDonald's, PetSmart, Old Navy, and Kohl's.  Mommy couldn't believe how grown up I looked in my new clothes.  I wear a size 10 in pants because I have gotten so tall!
I cracked Mom up one morning in the car.  She said that she forgot to put on her wedding ring.  I said, "That's OK.  A lot of boys will be attractive to you.  That won't be too bad.  You are really pretty."
Mom took me to family math night at school and was able to be a parent instead of working at it.  We had a lot of fun and I enjoyed having her attention and being around friends.  She and Daddy also had an MMSCA meeting in Fulton and Mommy took me and Emily for a little bit to honor her coordinator Susan who was receiving an award.  It was really nice to see all their friends who have known me since before I was born!  Our class went on a field trip to the planetarium.  That is what I chose to do my writing prompt on that we shared at parent teacher conferences.
I had a fantastic conference!  Mrs. Gross and Miss K (our student teacher) had a lot of nice things to say about me.  They said I was a really deep thinker about the books we read and ask good questions.  I often join in other book clubs just to learn what they are studying.  I love that I sit close to the table so I can listen in!  Miss Garmon said that I am doing such a great job keeping up in 3rd grade math. I am in the 98 %ile in reading and math. They also said that I am a good friend to everyone and a great role model.  I am very excited that I will be joining EEE later this month!
There were a lot of parties too this month.  We celebrated Bella's birthday at Flipz, had a Valentine's Day party at our school and Emily's, and of course, my birthday!  I brought donuts for the class this year.  We had to reschedule our family birthday party because Mommy and Emily got the flu, but we still had my friend birthday party!
Mommy and I also did a lot of birthday party planning this month.  I had a Dog party at home on the 19th after changing my mind multiple times.  We planned so many fun games and activities centered around dogs.  The best was the scavenger hunt and Beanie Boos to adopt at the end!  There were 8 of us there in all (Bella, Brynn, Carrie, Gabe, Ella, Madelyn, Cami, and me) and all but Gabe and Cami spent the night.  We were a little rambunctious at night, but finally went to sleep after Mom sat on the couch waiting for us to be quiet at 9:30.  Not too bad, but we were all up at 5 AM!  Mommy was much nicer at 7 AM after the sun came up!

7 Years, 11 Months...Ice storms and Christmas!

This month started with an ice storm on a Friday and ended on an ice storm that never happened on a Friday.  The first one was unexpected.  It was only supposed to do a little and then warm up before we left for school.  It never warmed up!  Mommy and I stayed at school with the other kids and teachers until 8:00 because everyone was sliding off the road.  It was actually kind of fun.  We got to watch parts of 3 movies on mats in the gym, ran in the halls, and played all kinds of games for as long as we wanted to.  By the time we left, the roads were mainly safe until we got to our neighborhood.  We had to park and walk.  But, when we got to the driveways, we had to crawl on our hands and knees.  It was pretty funny and I love telling the story!  We got a snow day the next Monday.  The second ice storm that was predicted never happened and we ended up with a 4 day weekend because of MLK day.
The rest of the time was a lot of Christmas fun.  I had a blast helping Mommy wrap Christmas presents.  I spent a lot of time making Emily an Olaf latch hook.  I was really proud of myself!  I enjoyed our holiday party at school and got to go to Emily's party at her school later in the week.  We had a nice visit from Nana Arden and our friend Ellen who gave us some gifts.  She is so thoughtful.
Christmas was really busy.  We went to Washington on Christmas Eve and celebrated with Papa Ron and Nana Carol and family in the morning, and with Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom and family in the afternoon.  Then we headed back home to get our house ready for Santa to come!  I was really excited that morning to get some Beanie Boos and the Lego Friends Hotel from Santa, but even more excited when I saw that my big gift from Mommy and Daddy was my own iPad!  It came with a lot of rules, but I am doing a really good job and following them.  I love texting the select few people I am allowed to!  We visited the Magic Tree on Christmas night.
We had a really fun week and a half off from school.  We went bowling as a family.  I got a strike on my first time!  Afterwards, we chanted "Red Lobster" from the backseat and Daddy actually gave in!  (Don't let him kid you, it's his favorite restaurant!)  Mommy took me and Emily up to Kirksville to visit the Kadens.  We were all amazed at how well Jaxson and I got along.  All it took was a puppy puzzle to bring us together!  We spend some time at Nana Arden's, and a lot of time just playing at home.
We went to Brynn's house for New Year's Eve again, and this time, Daddy and Emily came for a little bit!  It was so fun to bring in the new year with good friends!
It was a little hard giving up our freedom when we went back to school, but we did OK.  I had Girl Scouts already my first day back, and we have already started selling cookies!  I'm not totally motivated even though Mom keeps asking me to go out and sell.  I do really like the new Smores cookie that I got to try at our cookie rally!
We got to do a little sledding in the small amount of snow we did get and it was a lot of fun.  I also did snow angels and tried to body surf down the hill (it didn't work!)
Today, I was asked to go to a movie night at Ella's house, and Gabe was there too!  The movie night turned into a sleepover!
