I got to celebrate Bella's birthday party at Flipz. It is strange having separate parties when we did them together for so many years! We also went out to Burger King for Emily's birthday. Not my favorite, but I managed.
I had my orthodontist check up. It appears that everything is staying put, so we will just keep monitoring and see where we are after my other permanent teeth come in. Dr. Francis said I have several teeth ready to come out and he was happy to help get them out, but I decided I would rather not and just do it myself.
I have been really busy with Choir and piano lessons and Girls on the Run and volleyball. I love all of my activities! I also found out that I was one of 9 4th graders selected to help put on a TED talk at our school. I'm so excited to get started! I also got into EEE summer school and the Fine Arts program again!
I have the part of "Carol" in our musical called Summer Camp, opposite "Bob" and we are announcers at a parade. I tried on mom's business suit that she got her first job in. That is so tacky! I am also a camper in the musical. I have been doing really well in volleyball too. I had two coaches approach me at the end of one practice and ask if I would be willing to join the older group the next time because they thought I was ready for it. I just really love playing, and get nervous to think about being around older girls I don't know.
We had what it appears to be the last snow day of the school year. I am really liking those days off and am getting used to them! I like school, but I am also quite a bit of a home body. I have also spent some time home alone for just a couple of hours. I am feeling more comfortable doing that and even ask to do it sometimes!
I had a great report at my parent teacher conference! Miss Geha even said that I made growth in an area in reading. Even though I am reading at a high level, she was able to determine an area where I could grow and she helped me do it! She also said I am doing great socially and I am very helpful in class. We are working hard on learning about the Oregon Trail in school and have started a Minecraft project to demonstrate our knowledge. I am in a new Cardinal Class, where we are designing cartoons. I'm not crazy about it because I don't think I am very good at drawing.
Mom has worked a lot of hours at school lately, so I spend a lot of time entertaining myself. I usually make the most of it by watching videos or reading or finding another teacher kid to hang out with, but one day I think it was just too much for me. I really wanted to go to the Book Fair and it was about closed when mom was still in a couple of conferences that she was called into last minute. I just started panicking and feeling sad. I know she needs to work, but it is hard sometimes.
After all those meetings, she did get a day off and we spent some of it together (minus the 2 meetings she had to take me to!) I usually make up for it by having a friend over of course. Ella spent the night one night, and Madelyn spent the night another weekend. I went over to Ella's to hang out another afternoon.
We had a spirit week at school, and I just don't like putting myself out there like that. On Mix Match day, I wore two different socks. That's about as crazy as I get. Mom just embarrasses me with her outfits! I wore a hat for part of the day on hat day, and a volleyball shirt like every other day on sports team day. There was no way I was going to participate in PJ day! This week ended with our school carnival. I had a lot of fun hanging out with my friends.
My newest obsession is Harry Potter! I have read the entire series (over 3400 pages!) in about 2 months. I'm now rereading it. I just can't get enough! I went to a magic arts event in town and won a book and got to make my own wand.

10 Years Old...A Whole Decade!!!
I have been alive for 10 whole years! Double digits!!! I love taunting my mom with that fact, and remind her how old I will be for the next 10 years!
We have had a lot of snow and ice and cold this winter, and a lot of early outs, late starts, and snow days from school. It has made it hard to want to go to school consistently!
I have used this extra time to be with friends! I have gone to Madelyn's house for a sleepover, and had Ella spend the night multiple times. One snow day, Madelyn and Lila came over to play. I have still continued with piano lessons and choir. I also got to start another volleyball clinic. It's not with Molly Taylor, but another volleyball league. I don't care-I love all things volleyball! Mom took Emily and me to get our 10 and 5 year pictures taken.
We missed a lot of days at EEE so it made it hard to be ready for the Learning Fair. I had an animation class where we took still pictures of a scene to make a movie. Our group based ours off of The Little Red Hen, but made it a robot instead. I had a lot of fun putting it together and showing it off.
I've also been busy losing teeth, or at least parts of teeth. They are tending to come out in fragments. Either way, I'll take the Tooth Fairy money!
We went to Washington on 2/2 with Mom. We were finally able to celebrate Christmas with Papa Ron which was really nice. Then, Emily and I went to Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's to spend the night while Mom went to a party with Papa Ron. We love being parent-free!
Emily had her first friend birthday party at Flipz and I got to go. It was a joint party with another one of her friends whose mom is having a baby so she got to have it early in the month. At first I thought it was baby-ish, her friends has an older sister (Kaitlyn) who is my age. Instant friends! I had a blast jumping in the foam pit and running around.
I celebrated my birthday at school on the 13th since we didn't have school on my birthday and the day before was Valentine's day. I was thrilled to bring donuts! We also had student council that afternoon as well. At our Valentine's party, we made galaxy jars. Mom and I were off on my birthday, and we did a lot of shopping for our family birthday party. Unfortunately, we had another big snow so Dad got out early and Emily needed to be picked up sooner. Mom and Dad gave me the option of staying home alone for the hour they were gone. After being lectured on what to do and not to do, I stayed with Molly and read Harry Potter. I started the series about 2 weeks ago and I am already on book 5! I can't get enough books!!!

9 Years, 11 Months...Merry Christmas Nana Carol!
This was a very emotional holiday season. Student Council sponsored Spirit Week at school. Mom embarrassed me by dressing as an elf and ugly sweaters, and even performed in the staff holiday dance on stage. Don't get me wrong, I think I laughed and cheered the loudest while they were doing it! I enjoyed wearing a Santa hat, pj's, and a Christmas shirt. At our class Christmas party, we got to make slime!
We went over to Aunt Lisa's to celebrate Nana Arden's birthday, and then I went again the next day to play with Corinne.
This Christmas was bittersweet for our family. Two days before Christmas, Nana Carol died. I'm still having a hard time understanding and it hits me at the strangest times. I feel like she and I were just finally starting to get to know each other. I got to wear the charm bracelet we picked out at her visitation and funeral, which was really special. The evening that she died, we went to a Frankenberg gathering and enjoyed spending time with Papa Ron and his family. We plan to spend a lot more time with him.
We enjoyed the time we did have at Christmas. We went to visit Grandma Rose and Uncle Clarence (who is staying with her right now.) He knows a lot about animals and the weather! It was also nice to hang out with Grandma Rose. We visited with Papa Ron, Uncle Mark, Aunt Julie, and Chase for a while before going over to Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's for Christmas. I had a blast playing with Hadley! She and I got a lot of the same gifts (a bracelet maker, make-up, and a matching shirt.) I really think we could be twins!
When we got home, we had to say good-bye to Elmo and get ready for Santa to come. The next morning was fun. Santa brought me a dollhouse that I have to put together. Mom told me that she would help me and maybe we could get Papa Ron to come down and help too sometime. We spent the rest of the day at Nana Arden and Papa Rodney's. Corinne came home to try and spend the night with us, but asked to go home around 11:30.
Over the break, we celebrated Nana Carol's life at her visitation and funeral. It was really hard feeling sad and seeing people cry. That always makes me want to cry.
We tried to do some "normal" things over break too. I had a dentist appointment and had Lila spend the night. We celebrated New Year's Eve at Carrie's this year with the play date friends. It was a lot of fun decorating gingerbread houses, eating junk food, and attempting to build forts and watch a movie.
It was hard to go back to school, but it was also nice to see my friends and get back to a routine. The first weekend after the new year, I went to a swimming birthday party at the ARC for Samantha. I wasn't able to attend the rest of the party because we already had plans at Aunt Lisa's. Aunt Michele was in town, so we got more pizza and playing!
We are doing a spring musical in choir and I am so excited! It is called "Summer Camp" and I have already auditioned. I can't wait to find out what part I got!
The past weekend has been all about snow. We got out early Friday because a huge storm had started and I rode the bus home with Lila. We had a blast in the snow for hours and stayed up way too late. Because of the 17+ inches of snow that we got, Mom couldn't come get me until Sunday afternoon! It was an all weekend sleepover!
I can't wait to see what this next month brings. In one month, I will be double-digits!!!
