10 Years, 7 Months...Volleyball is getting more serious!

I started the month and ended the month with volleyball!  I went to the Black and Gold scrimmage and game and had a blast hanging out with my new teammate Lillian.
I was able to have a lot of sleepovers this month.  Lila and Ella both slept over at my house one night.  It was really awkward because they both have such different interests.  I had a sleepover at Ella's with Gabe-probably the last time that will happen with a boy!  Corinne spent the night because her parents were out of town. Lila spent the night another night just the two of us.  I really am behind on my sleep!
It is weird having Emily at school now.  Mr. Simons (our PE teacher) can't believe Emily and I are sisters because we are so different.  I could have told him that!  There has been lots of waiting after school for Mom to get done with work.  I gave my first group presentation this year in class on the southeastern states.  CRE choir and 5th grade honor's choir started and I really enjoy doing that.  Student council started as well and I am going to run for secretary again.  I am still doing piano lessons for now, but I'm not sure I want to continue.
We had a lot of family time too.  We volunteered as a family at the Food Bank and packaged chocolate graham crackers.  We went to Corinne's birthday party and a Labor Day BBQ at Lisa's.  Mom also took Emily and me to our neighbor Grant's 2nd birthday party.  He is so cute and fun!
Nana Arden and Papa Rodney and Papa Ron came to Emily's first soccer game.  We went out to eat at Applebee's after the game.  It was so good to see him.  Our school had Muffins with Moms and we got a few minutes with Mom before she had to report to duty.
This past week, I felt crummy at school and ended up with a fever (just like Emily the week before.)  I only missed one day and got to spend it watching TV because Mom was a lot sicker than I was.  I still have a bad headache and need some rest, but I'm healing. Maybe having fewer activities would help with that?
The 5th grade had our first field trip-an MU volleyball game and Lila and I got to be ball girls!  I also went to the game that night after picking up our packets for Lizzy's 5k (which we did not run in so we could rest more.)  We will run one on our own in her honor when we are feeling better.  I went to Emily's second soccer game and was so exhausted that I ended up hanging out in the car to rest (and read.)  I missed her first goal!  I got to do ball girl again with Lila but had such a bad headache that day.  Today, I felt a lot better and got to do ball girl for 2 games.  I was so excited and cheering even when Mizzou wasn't playing.  Molly and Josh and several players came out during the first game and said "hi" to me.  It is so cool to know all of them!

10 1/2 Years Old...Soaking up the last of summer!

After coming down off my high from making Missouri Juniors volleyball team, I got to spend a week with Lila and Camryn at the Mizzou volleyball camp!  Better yet, Ali was in charge!  The last day, Lila came over to spend the night and the next day, Mom took us to Six Flags using our free tickets from a reading program in 4th grade.  It was 99 degrees that day, but really didn't feel too bad.  The lines were really short and we got to ride a lot of water rides over and over again.  I got a little jealous when Lila rode the roller coasters with my mom because I was scared to go on them, but I got over it pretty quickly.
I was able to have a fun play date with Cami while her mom was in the hospital for surgery.  I worry a lot about them and I know I will miss Cami next month when she goes on to middle school.  I was also able to have a double sleepover with Ella.  I went to her house one night and she came to our house the next night.  I got to go to my friend Kaylie from volleyball's birthday party at Sky Zone. I didn't know a lot of the girls, but I hung out with the ones I did.  I love hanging out with my friends!
We went over to Nana Arden's one evening to celebrate Mom and Aunt Lisa's birthdays.  We tried to soak up every last bit of the summer.  We went to the library, and went shoe shopping for me (I am now in a size 8 1/2-bigger than my Mom's feet!), played in the sprinklers, played the Wii, started playing Pokemon Go, went on lots of bike rides, and so many more things!  Our family took a trip to Kirksville.  Mom gave us a tour of Truman, we ate at Pagliai's, and went to Ryan and Stacey's house.  We had so much fun having a water balloon (and water cup fight!)
Our Missouri Juniors team had a parent meeting and I got to try on my uniform.  I was able to suggest 4 different numbers that I would like to have, so I put *#5* and any number other than 4! Camryn's mom also arranged for the volleyball team to get together for a pool party after the volleyball parent meeting.  The girls and I gelled together really well and had a blast!  I can't wait for our season to start in November!
I have continued with piano lessons this summer and will for the school year in addition to honor's choir.  Dad also started a school counseling job in a new school and we got to go up and help him decorate his office.
Our family went to Beaver Lake in Arkansas to visit Dad's Uncle Dave and Aunt Marge.  Papa Rick and Nana Peggy came along with all of Aunt Lisa's family.  It was a really fast trip since school was going to start the next week.  We went tubing , kayaking, and played a lot in the Lake. It rained for about and hour and a half that day and I was so bored and upset we had to get off the Lake.  We went on a sunset boat ride to Beaver Dam.  Mom and Dad needed to get back to work and Aunt Lisa had 2 cars down there, so Emily and I were able stay an extra 3 days!  I know it was hard on Mom to leave us, and I really missed her too.  It was a lot of fun hanging out with my cousins though.  I went knee-boarding and more tubing and ate a lot of ice cream!
As soon as we got back, I had to unpack and repack so we could meet Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom for me to spend 4 days with them.  While there, we went shopping, saw The Lion King, ate Orange Leaf, baked a pumpkin pie and just enjoyed time together.  I did miss Meet the Teacher Night so I had to wait until after that night and found out that Lila and I both have Mr. Higgins!  That's exactly who I wanted and I am so excited!
When Mom picked me up, she surprised me that she and I were going to see Pentatonix in concert!  I just couldn't believe it and couldn't stop smiling the whole time!  Rachel Platten opened for them and she was pretty amazing too!  It was such a great time.  Mom bought me a Pentatonix concert t-shirt too.  We got home about 12:45 in the morning so I was so tired the next morning!
Nana Arden watched Emily and me the next 3 days and I took a 2 1/2 hour nap the first day.  I watched a lot of TV and movies while I was there.  One day we went to Pottery Island with Corinne and I painted a frog to give to Nana Arden.
Today was the first day of school and I was really excited and it was a good day, but I was disappointed by a few things.  There weren't any volleyballs at recess, Lila wasn't at my table, and we had assigned seating at lunch.  Mr. Higgins was really funny and strict, but that was OK with me.  I'm looking forward to the rest of the year!
