12 Years, 5 Months...Lots of family time!

We got to spend a couple last days with Papa Rick and Nana Peggy while they were in town.  We picked up Fazoli's and ate at Aunt Lisa's while they were at Corinne's swim meet.  Aunt Lisa and Uncle Otto had left to take Jonathan to Stanford for school.  I can't believe he is going to be gone for 5 years!

Even though I didn't want to, I went to Emily's soccer games.  Mom said I needed to because she always went to mine.  The benefit is that we usually got some type of sweet treat afterwards!

Lila asked if I could go to the movie In The Heights with her and Olga and Lucille.  It was a lot of fun, and we were all really good about wearing our masks even though we were all vaccinated.  Mom had me pay for the tickets and snack.  I was so nervous to talk to the guy behind the counter and I didn't know what I was doing, but I survived!

Our family took a fun, quick trip to Washington for Father's Day.  We went to Papa Ron's first and played a lot of card games.  Then we got to visit Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom with the rest of the family for the first time since the pandemic started!  I really missed everyone, especially Hadley.  Too bad we didn't get any pictures!  We celebrated Father's Day with Dad's family at our house the next weekend when Aunt Lisa and Uncle Otto got back.

We also went to Washington one day for the Frankenberg Fest.  I hadn't planned on swimming, but I am so glad that I did!  I had a lot of fun and reconnected with Nicole.  We also played some fun games with other distant cousins around my age.  I hope we do this every year!

I have been begging to move into the bedroom downstairs for a long time and it is a possibility soon.  We found some nice furniture and it will come in at the the beginning of September.  I can't wait to decorate my room in neutral colors.  So, I have to be responsible and follow directions, etc. to show Mom and Dad that I can handle moving downstairs.  It is hard, but I am doing my best.  Mom also took me out clothes shopping for a few things.  I'm trying to decide what my style will be like for 7th grade.

I was able to go over to Shelby's again one afternoon.  She was going to come here, but Emily was sick and we were waiting for her Covid test to come back.  It was negative!  We found that out right before our 4th of July gathering with Aunt Lisa's family at our house.  Thank goodness!  That night was pretty fun, but our neighbors we shooting off some big and loud fireworks right in our direction and it scared me quite a bit.  We went over to Aunt Lisa's to celebrate the 4th of July on the 5th with a BBQ.  Our family also went blueberry picking that morning.

One afternoon, I got to go over to Jacob's new house.  I got to play with the dogs and cat there, and then he took Corinne and me to go swimming in their neighborhood pool.  There were some older kids there that we played with.  I didn't put sunscreen on (despite the reminders) and got pretty burned.  I was also asked to go to one of Lila's swim meets and I got to cheer on her and Corinne!

I was able to do several volleyball clinics and open gyms this month before try-outs.  I tried out for Missouri Juniors and Club CoMo again.  I was really nervous that I wouldn't make it.  It took a while, but I got the call later that night that I made MO Jrs!!!  I found out later that all of my friends made it and accepted offers too!  It should be a fun season!

I went to the Mizzou positional 3 day volleyball camp.  I was so nervous because I didn't know anyone and I was the youngest in my group.  I was able to keep up with them though.  Everyone was pretty tired because they worked us hard!  I did have a pretty bad sore throat and took a cough drop.  At first we thought it was because I was yelled so much during the loud try-outs, but it turns out I caught Emily's cold.  We wanted to make sure it wasn't Covid, and my test came back negative as well!

I've caught up on a lot of appointments this month.  Just in time, because I have a lot of fun things planning the rest of the summer-volleyball camps, a trip to Washington, and a couple of trips to the Lake!

12 Years, 4 Months...Immunity and end of 6th grade!

I got my first and second vaccines!  I am so proud of how brave I was both times.  Dad brought me and I think that was helpful.  I got pretty sick after both of them, especially the second, but was better after a couple of days.  Come on immunity and sleepovers!

We have had a lot of end of the year activities at Oakland.  We had a field day and I got to meet a lot of students that I never saw before.  We had our first and only orchestra concert.  We played three songs and for a group of only 14 students who learned how to play virtually, we sounded pretty darn great!  We also had the Oakland Middle School awards ceremony.  I was pretty embarrassed to walk across the stage to receive my 5 awards.  I was also pretty jealous that I didn't receive as many rewards as some of my friends.  I just can't help but compare myself to them.  It sure does feel good to be out of school though!

I have done a lot since summer has started.  I had done a lot of reading in my room, and we went to the library and Barnes and Noble.  I just can't get enough of books!  My favorites lately are murder mysteries.  I also participated in a Mizzou memory study and made some extra spending money.  I had Lila over, and I went over to her grandma's house for swimming.  I was also invited to my new friend Shelby's house.  We did a lot of talking and laughing.  I begrudgingly went to a youth group activity at Lillian's Church, but only because I love her.  We did a lot of water games and I ended up meeting two new friends, Elizabeth and Katie.  I was so excited to go to youth group the next week, which involved laser tag and Go Karts!  This was the end of this year's youth groups, but they will start back up later and I can't wait!

I had my sports physical to try out for the Oakland volleyball team next year.  I am so excited but also so nervous that I won't make it.  I have been going to a lot of volleyball clinics to get ready for competitive try-outs on July 9th.  I have also been going to Emily's soccer games.  I didn't really want to, but Mom and Dad said that she has had to sit through a lot of my events, so it is only fair.

We have done a lot as a family too.  Dad's family came to our house for a BBQ and backyard volleyball.  We went to Papa Rodney's office space for Camille's birthday party and Jonathan's going away party.  He is going to Stanford in California for graduate school for 5 years.  It is so weird to think that he won't be around much.

Papa Rick and Nana Peggy have been here for a couple of weeks.  They stayed at Aunt Lisa and Uncle Otto's so we have visited over there and they have come over here.  We seem to get take out and ice cream a lot, which I love!  We also played the Meme game and Golf (a card game.)  We also all took a trip to the Zoo.  It was amazing to see all the animals again! I had so many favorites.  The elephants were really close to us and one was my favorite.  He keep eating sticks and spraying dirt and water all over himself.  I also loved that we could see a cheetah up close, who walked back and forth in front of us.  I also really loved a bear that put its paws on the glass right by us.  On the ride home, Mom's windshield got hit by a huge rock and cracked it, and then another one hit us and damaged it even more.  It was pretty scary but we made it home safely.

I'm so excited to have a lot of fun experiences this summer!
