We had two full weeks off for Christmas break and it was great! I had a sleepovers here with Ella, Keri, and Lila and went to Samantha's birthday sleepover. I got to stay at home by myself for a while and enjoyed the peace and quiet while I read. Our family played lots of games, including Farkle our new dice game. I had a couple of volleyball practices as well.
Christmas was so much fun! We went to Washington for Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's celebration after a brief visit with Grandma Rose. I really enjoy hanging out at Grandma Kathy's. We came back home that night and said good-bye to Elmo and enjoyed our Christmas the next morning. I gave Emily a Pokemon tin with cards and she gave me a Harry Potter origami book. "Santa" gave me a personalized Harry Potter shadow box with Lego characters and a Harry Potter puzzle. Then, we went to Nana Arden and Papa Rodney's. It was such nice weather that we were able to play outside and take a walk on the trail behind their house. The next day, we headed back to Washington to celebrate with Papa Ron. He gave me a Smoky Mountains charm for my bracelet that I love!
Our New Year's Eve was spent at Carrie's house with the play date friends. We had a lot of fun playing in the basement and played the Saran Wrap game. The next day was a big one for me! We had our first volleyball scrimmage against the 12U team. We really held our own against the older more experienced team! All my Missouri grandparents came and I was so nervous and disappointed that I didn't play my best. Molly even showed up to watch a little bit too!
We got to celebrate Nana Arden's birthday at Aunt Lisa's and played with our cousins. We also spent another afternoon over there just visiting and playing when Dad went back to work early. We took another trip to Washington to have lunch with Grandma Rose at Aldo's and visited with Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom.
It was really hard to go back to school! We started our choir rehearsals again and our spring musical is called Broadway Beat. I'm going to try out for a speaking role. We also had a Fine Arts Extravaganza for the 5th graders to get excited about middle school fine arts. It was interesting, but our music teacher Mrs. Renwick had a freak accident when one of the flags hit her in the eye. She has been out of school for a while and it has slowed down practices for sure. We are all worried about her! The next night was the instrument try out night. I went in about 50% wanting to do an instrument and walked out 85% sure! I had a hard time putting my favorites in order but I definitely favor the string instruments. My choices are #1-bass, #2-viola, #3-clarinet. I am really excited!
