Our first track meet this month was at Centralia (Boone County Relays). We didn't run the 4x800 because one member of the team hid so we had to forfeit. I ran against Lila and Alaina in the 1600 and got my PR of 6:43! I ran the 1600 in the Mexico meet and got another PR of 6:35! I realized that I was running close to Lila when she usually blows me away. I discovered that she was really struggling during the run, so I ran with her. We ended up helping each other (she finished, and I got my PR!) I also ran in the 4x800 and my split was 3:12. Our next track meet was at Jefferson City High School and got my PR again-6:31!!! Our last two track meets were in Columbia at Rock Bridge High School and Battle High School. Aunt Lisa came to the Rock Bridge meet. I was hoping to get another PR, but I ran a 6:34 and 6:39, respectively. At times I would get motivated to do better, but other times I really didn't enjoy running track. I am hoping to play soccer in high school in the spring. I already got my sports physical for high school!
Middle school is wrapping up. I took the MAP test and think I did ok. I took the End of Course (EOC) exam for the first time because I am taking Algebra. The first day was rough, but I felt confident the second day. I also was selected to represent Oakland in the Geography bee, and tied for 3rd place in the school. Not too bad for a girl who thought Alaska was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean near Mexico! I went dress shopping for the 8th grade dance. I was having a hard time feeling good about myself in a dress, but I finally decided on a beautiful red dress.
I went to the Columbia College volleyball camp. The head coach pulled me aside to get to know me a little better and said, "I hope to see more of you." I'm also starting lessons with Antonija for sand volleyball. It's a little different not being on a court. We had our end of the year volleyball party at Lia's dad's house. We played a lot of volleyball outside, but I got annoyed that Emily kept trying to play. I also felt out of place with my teammates when they were talking about boys and social media. It was pouring down rain and I was ready to go early.
Mom was in charge of bringing dinner to youth group one week and got to talk about herself. I didn't eat the taco soup "because I wasn't hungry" and was very quiet. I get like that sometimes. Because Emily goes to most of my events, I also went to her soccer games. All three sets of our grandparents were at one game and it was so nice to have them there. Mom's parents came back to our house for a relaxing dinner and Papa Ron and Linda took Emily, mom, and me out for Andy's. I normally don't spend much time with Emily, but I have read to her a couple of times this month at night. She bought my favorite book The Westing Game and I wanted to share it with her.
Dad injured his back this month and had surgery. Nana Arden and Papa Rodney took me to school that morning and picked me up. Mom has asked for some extra help this month because dad can't move much. In between all these activities, I've tried to spend as much time as I can with Aaron. We went to the Guardians of the Galaxy movie with his mom and sister. We just celebrated our six month anniversary!
